Break Out of Your Comfort Zone

Do you have a comfort zone? I do. Sometimes it seems the path of least resistance to stay within that zone. It is less risky. There are less options to fail. At some point, though, I realized that I didn’t want to just live status quo.

“Fear is a natural and essential part of growth. Every time we consciously choose to step outside of our comfort zone, the next uncomfortable thing becomes a little bit easier.” – Success, 10 Ways to Overcome Fear and Step Outside your Comfort Zone

In the past, I set up goals for myself, only to fail them by the end of January. So a few years back, I decided to simplify by choosing ONE WORD that will serve as my focus each year. As long as my goals aligned with that word focus, I considered myself on track for the year.

In past years, I chose the words brave, focus, intentional, and courageous and each year those words turned out to give me more than enough opportunities to practice (especially courageous for 2020). This year, my word is CREATE and I am so excited to see what 2021 brings. I don’t want just status quo. I want to create new services and opportunities for my customers to succeed. I want to create ways to be intentional in my family relationships.

Why Choose One Word?

For me, choosing one word to focus on for the year stretches me beyond my comfort zone. It challenges me to think outside the box and I love every bit of it. Choosing a word for the year supports my goals, hopes and dreams for the year and helps me to define success.

  1. I love choosing one little word each year too! I’ve done brave, believe, abundance, and this year’s is worth. Can’t wait to see what you “create!”
